Smoke could be seen billowing down a road in Windlesham when a house caught alight on Good Friday (March 25).
The blaze broke out in a bedroom at the property in Broadley Green shortly before 2pm.
Two fire crews from Camberley, and one each from Chobham and Woking, were at the scene for around three hours tackling the fire.
Robin Horsley, who lives in Pine Grove opposite the road, said: “We were driving home and there were three fire engines [turn up] in quick succession.
“There was black smoke pouring out of the window, and the whole of the first floor.
“A firefighter had gone into the house and was spraying water, and smoke was billowing all the way along the road.”
No one was injured in the blaze, but some of the residents were treated for smoke inhalation.
