15th July 2015 – Surrey Heath’s Green Waste Club has been given an overwhelming vote of approval by members of the Biffa-operated garden waste collection scheme.

In a survey of Club members conducted earlier this year, over 90% of Surrey Heath respondents said they were satisfied with the Green Waste Club and the reliability of its fortnightly service. Nine out of 10 also felt the Club delivered value-for-money.

Nearly all of those members who had seen or spoken with Biffa’s collection crews were satisfied with their service attitude. The vast majority (95%) were also satisfied with the quality and range of information received.

Lucy Stephens, Biffa’s national Green Waste Club manager, said: “The Club provides a valued service for local residents, so it’s important that we understand how they feel about it.

“The vast majority of Surrey Heath members rate the Club highly which is good news as it shows we’re meeting their expectations.”

She added that Surrey Heath’s survey results reflect the overall feedback from all six Green Waste Clubs operated by Biffa, and which have a total membership of nearly 47,000.

With the approval of Surrey Heath Borough Council, Biffa established Surrey Heath’s Green Waste Club in 2006 to provide fortnightly collections of garden waste from local residents. They pay a modest subscription to join the Club and receive their own 240 litre wheeled bin which Biffa crew empty every fortnight.

The best-value subscription, paying by monthly direct debit, costs just £4.50 per month, and neighbours with small gardens can share the cost of a subscription.

The Club’s current 8,000 members in Surrey Heath have so far helped to recycle 13,954 tonnes of garden waste which is turned into compost. This helps improve the environment and also reduces refuse disposal costs.
