It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – and what better way to kick start the festive season than a free family fun day to celebrate the switching on of Camberley’s Christmas lights?
Taking place this Saturday (November 14th), this year’s event is bigger and better than ever with special guests Bob the Builder and cast members from Camberley Theatre’s Aladdin pantomime.
The festivities start at 10am with a fantastic Christmas food market in the High Street, with more than 30 stalls selling delicious local produce, carol-singing choirs, and free face painting.
Park Street will host festive fun for all the family, including street theatre, and Christmas storytelling in a giant inflatable Christmas pudding!
From 11am, The Mall will see performances from The Secret Stage School, along with appearances from kids’ favourite Bob the Builder, and the Aladdin panto stars.
The Big Switch On then takes place on Park Street from 5pm to 7pm, when some very special mystery guests will turn on the lights and officially welcome in the festive season to Camberley. The crowds will then be entertained by the Take That Experience performing the band’s greatest hits.
It’s sure to be a day filled with festive fun - and to add to the Christmas cheer, Camberley shoppers can enjoy free parking during late night shopping on Thursdays from 19 November.
Up to 17 December, most of Camberley's top high street names and fantastic independent traders will open late, giving shoppers a chance to pick up Christmas treats until 8pm.
Surrey Heath Borough Council is providing free parking in its Main Square and Knoll Road car parks for cars arriving after 3pm on these dates, while The Atrium is also running the same free parking offer.
