It’s Madness, Camberley Youth Theatre are Simply Dahlicious

Camberley Youth Theatre take over on Sunday 17 July 2016. The junior members of the Youth Theatre will be performing ‘Simply Dahlicious – The World of Roald Dahl’ at 2pm. The seniors will then be performing musical ‘Our House’ at 7:30pm which features songs from English ska band Madness.

Following a hugely successful production of Seussical the Musical last year, the talented students from the Camberley Youth Theatre Juniors return to the main stage where, using the words of Dahl, they 'will transport you into new worlds and introduce you to amazing people who live exciting lives’.

Tremendous things are in store for you and wonderful surprises await as the juniors showcase a compilation review created to mark one hundred years since the birth of Roald Dahl. A thrilling afternoon of music, singing, dance and dramatic work taking inspiration from the works of the world's number one storyteller, Roald Dahl.

Over two terms the students have worked together using the various skills they have learned across the year. Simply Dahlicious has given the students the opportunity to enjoy the well-known stories of Roald Dahl and to look at the various adaptations of his works either in film, on stage or in recent musical theatre productions. They have also looked at the language, the use of rhythm and rhyme and the storytelling in Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes to image our own versions of these children's favourites.

The Camberley Youth Theatre Seniors combine a witty and romantic tale with the legendary songs of Madness! ‘Our House’ the musical is the story of Joe Casey who, on the night of his sixteenth birthday, takes Sarah, the girl of his dreams, out on their first date.

Our House is created by Tim Firth with music and lyrics by Madness. This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Ltd.

Tickets for Simply Dahlicious cost £3.50 and for Our House cost £8. They can be purchased in person, online at www.camberleytheatre.biz or by calling the Box Office on 01276 707600.
