Death of young girl after ‘car crossed carriageway’ in Farnham A31 crash near Coxbridge roundabout

A young girl died when a car went across the A31 carriageway in Farnham and crashed into a tree, Surrey Police has said.

The accident happened at around 7.35pm on Monday, about a mile west of the Coxbridge roundabout.

It was also previously reported that a number of other vehicles were involved in the collision.

Surrey Police said they believed a silver VW Polo, which was travelling from the Hampshire direction towards Farnham, somehow crossed the carriageway and hit the tree.

The driver was taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting with non-life threatening injuries, while another passenger in the vehicle received minor injuries.

The air ambulance also landed at the scene and the road was closed in both directions for around 10 hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to establish the circumstances of the crash.
