A new Lightwater care home has opened with a luxury cinema, therapy room and terrace, offering residents a new lease of life.
A new care home in Lightwater, boasting a luxury cinema and therapy room, has been opened by Brian Blessed.
Lakeview Care Home in Lightwater Road, part of the Hallmark Care Homes group, was unveiled by the well-known actor last Thursday (November 6).
The opening was also attended by the Mayor of Surrey Heath, Councillor Bob Paton, and managing director of Hallmark Care Homes, Avnish Goyal.
The home is privately run and will provide residential, nursing and dementia care.
Mr Blessed said: “I’ve never seen anything of this standard before. The home is beautifully designed and brilliantly thought-out.
"It is not about being old, this place is for living; it oozes happiness.”
Guests enjoyed a champagne reception before going on a tour of the home, which features a large garden with raised beds, a water feature and a gardening club area complete with greenhouse and potting shed.
An area of Lakeview designed specifically for residents living with a form of dementia features bespoke furniture and a state-of-the-art dementia monitoring system.
Mr Paton called the home the "most fantastic and stunning" facility of its kind that he he had ever seen.
Areas such as the residents' laundry room are designed to encourage active and independent living.
A Hallmark Care Homes spokesman said: “The home has been the talk of the town, thanks to its impressive architecture and innovative facilities.
“It is something we have been doing for a few years. Lightwater has been calling out for something like this.
"The residents can find new hobbies and do things they could not do in their own home.”
Lakeview Care Home is open now and has welcomed its first residents.
